When there is no mind, you are in yoga; when there is mind you are not in yoga. So you may do all the postures, but if the mind goes on functioning, if you go on thinking, you are not in yoga. Yoga is the state of no-mind. If you can be without the mind without doing any posture, you have become a perfect yogi. It has happened to many without doing any postures, and it has not happened to many who have been doing postures for many lives.
I use ‘daily yoga’ which is an app it’s got yoga for all situations. It’s not great but it’s a starting point!
I will try it out! Thanks :)
I need some more fitness blogs to follow!!
If you reblog mostly fitness stuff, like exercises, healthy foods, yoga, running, getting in shape, and all that good stuff…
Reblog this and I’ll follow you on my main blog (captainnflowers) and reblog you lots and love you and your blog forever and ever
Yoga isn’t just about stretching, it isn’t about working out, it is about silencing the mind.
My next million dollar idea: reluctant exercise videos with people who aren’t perky.
"Just five more… I know, I kind of want to die right now too, but let’s just power through it."
"Okay, new yoga pose. It’s going to ache like a bastard until your hamstrings release, I’m not gonna lie."
"Stretch a little deeper… it’s okay to yell ‘fuck’ at this point, I won’t tell anyone."
yes
That moment when exercising becomes your most favorite part of the day.
Can’t wait to get on my mat at the yoga loft tonight! I’ve missed my inversions so much after taking a long long break. Nowadays, it feels good to get my feet off the ground and some blood to my brain :)
One of my students had gastrointestinal illness (flu or Norovirus) and hasn’t been able to eat/keep anything down for a day now. I asked her mom to tell her to feel well soon and that we miss her and she responds “ah it’s okay, she needs to lose weight anyways.”
THIS IS YOUR FOURTH GRADE DAUGHTER. No wonder she has confidence issues if this is what you feel okay telling her teacher?!!!!!?I’m gonna be honest with you: as much as we know it’s not okay, a lot of people, especially people a little older than we are, have had a different experience- they’ve had the big “obesity is bad” message shoved down their throats, but most of them haven’t had the opportunity to learn about mental health. It’s really quite the shame because health professionals tend to put it on the parents to “make the kid lose weight,” but they don’t go through how to properly and effectively do that- so many parents really don’t know how to go about it and yes, shit like this does happen quite a lot.
That being said, it’s still ridiculous she brought it up to you, too. As a teacher, your students’ weights are really not your concern- your concern should be their learning, and to a degree, that they have what they need to flourish.
Tbh, and I know this is 100% up to you, but I think you should set up a meeting with the parent and briefly explain how especially right now at this stage of your student’s life, she needs positive messages about her body. Explain that there are ways to help her get a handle on her health without demonizing her body, and emphasize that by making something like an illness about her weight, the parent is setting up the child to put her weight above everything else, which can lead to pretty severe body issues- issues that can impair not just her learning but her overall quality of life.
For real though, there definitely is something about the idler generation’s perceptions about obesity and weight. I was in the hospital about to get surgery, and when one of the nurses heard I was getting the procedure done for my Crohn’s, she said “Well at least you’ll stay skinny!”
Like what? And since I was 8 and diagnosed I’ve gotten comments like that. Which is probably why I feel inadequate now that I’m not “the skinny girl”. I agree 1000000% that it needs to stop but I do think that it’s just an issue that the older generations have. But yeah set up a meeting cuz as someone who had heard that a LOT as a kid, it f*cked me up big time.
Fitness blogs?
So I used to follow a ton, and then I took a hiatus from this blog and unfollowed all but 3 fitness blogs.
I’ve found a bunch but I feel like I’m still reblogging from the same 5 people.
So, if you’re a fitness blog (or fitblr, whatever you like to call yourself) reblog, like, follow, or just do something to get my attention! I need more of you to follow (from my main blog of course).
